I help scholars in the humanities and qualitative, non-experimental social sciences with book manuscripts, book proposals, individual book chapters, essays, and journal articles. I edit in fields such as literary studies and film studies, regional or area studies, ethnic studies, cultural studies, history, religion, anthropology, sociology, art history, and political science. My clients have published books with a variety of presses, including Princeton University Press, Columbia University Press, University of California Press, Duke University Press, Johns Hopkins University Press, The University of Chicago Press, Oxford University Press, University of Virginia Press, Routledge, University of Michigan Press, University of Hawai’i Press, and University of Toronto Press.

I offer the perspective of an attentive outside reader. Even if you work in the disciplines in which I was trained—literary studies or Japanese studies—I almost certainly won’t be an expert in your particular research topic. As Mary Laur at the University of Chicago Press explains, editors must be “sufficiently removed from [the work] to judge whether academic authors are communicating their ideas clearly to other interested but not fully knowledgeable readers.” My generalist perspective helps me edit on behalf of readers who aren’t immersed in your research.
