Cowriting Sessions
for Workshop Participants & Alumni

I’m going to offer weekly cowriting sessions in September 2024 for alumni of this summer’s “Crafting Your Scholarly Book” workshop.

If all goes well (there is regular turnout, I find that the sessions fit well into my own workflow, etc.), then I will continue offering them most weeks for the rest of the academic year. (I would make them available to participants in any workshop I was actively running as well as to my workshop alumni.)

The Zoom link for the cowriting session is here. (https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84060997209?pwd=RfvcaQMh13tAMH9nCSM1TmiMNtzC9t.1) You can sign up below for email reminders about the sessions (which would include this Zoom link). If you sign up for the email reminders, I’d also send you an email if I need to cancel a cowriting session. (I’d also post a note on this webpage if there’s a week when I need to cancel.)

Here’s my plan! I am going to offer the sessions on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 to 11:45 Eastern (9:00 to 10:45 Central, 8:00 to 9:45 Mountain, 7:00 to 8:45 Pacific).

I’ll begin by following the format below; we can tweak the format as needed.

  • About 3 minutes to post our goals in the chat or share goals verbally, if desired, and to stretch our bodies and settle in

  • A 46-minute work session (with an optional 1-minute break in the middle, after 22.5 minutes, to stretch and rest your eyes)

  • A 5-minute break (to move around, get a snack, give your eyes a screen break)

  • A second 46-minute work session (with an optional 1-minute break in the middle, after 22.5 minutes, to stretch and rest your eyes)

  • 5 minutes at the end for wrapping up (~3 minutes for jotting down notes about where you want to start next time, what went well; a couple of minutes to share how things went)

  • Total time for session: 1 hour and 45 minutes

You absolutely can come for just part of the cowriting session, if that’s what would work best for you. If the time I’m suggesting won’t work for you, let me know what times would work for you. And if you have any other suggestions, just send me an email!
