Book Proposal Consulting
In a book proposal consultation, I carefully read and think about your proposal with your desired press(es) in mind, and then provide detailed feedback through a 60–75-minute recorded Zoom call. I offer concrete suggestions to help make your proposal more reader-friendly and compelling.
I review your proposal with an eye to helping you make effective use of a scholarly book proposal’s standard sections—including sections that often cause writers consternation, such as the “competing or comparable works” section. I pay special attention to how you convey your argument and its stakes through your project description and chapter summaries.
And because the book proposal provides a window into your book’s thesis, chapter arguments, and structure, I provide developmental feedback about these major building blocks of your book.
If you’re interested in follow-up editing, then after you’ve implemented a round of revisions following the consultation, I can line edit your proposal.
